Fear not fellow Wordlers, I have found alternatives for you during the strike.

The NYT Tech Guild strike has affected us all. What do you mean I can’t do my daily Wordle? My daily Connections? Despite my fingers reaching for the app, I must stay in solidarity. But alas, my time in class has to be spent paying attention rather than playing Wordles (yuck). Thankfully, the Guild and the helpful folks of Reddit have provided alternatives to scratching this itch.

Guild-Built Games: NYT Tech Guild Shows Us How It’s Done

  • The NYT Tech Guild has not taken any time off. In fact, they designed games just for us boycotting. The games built by the guild are fun, innovative, and a subtle way to support the guild while doing something productive.

Vulture Crosswords: When You’re Feeling Pop-Culture-ish

  • Feeling like showing off your pop-culture knowledge? Vulture’s crosswords have you covered. Each puzzle is themed around the latest in pop culture, making it the perfect dose of entertainment if you’re looking to test your knowledge of everything from cult classics to last week’s viral TikToks. For even as chronically online as I am, I can’t solve them…

Daily Crosswords: Puzzle Purists Behold!

  • If you’re craving a more traditional crossword experience without the NYT subscription, Daily Crossword Links gathers an assortment of crosswords from around the web. A mix of crossword puzzles fill the pages and ensures you have a new one to do.

Wordle Replay: Wordle For All Please

  • Since we can’t do our daily Wordle, the Wordle Replay lets us dive into an endless series of five-letter word challenges. So, keep that Wordle vibe and guess on.

Duotrigordle: Because One Wordle Isn’t Challenging Enough

  • One Wordle too easy? Duotrigordle throws 32 Wordle-style puzzles at you simultaneously, promising to max out your multitasking abilities and test the limits of how many tabs you can keep open in your brain. I literally cannot do this, but its fun to try.

Even though the strike is coming to a close, the guild still hasn’t secured a contract. So, if you’re looking for a way to show support (or just avoid that looming pile of readings), these puzzles are here to help.
