Happening off-Campus: China has become one of the world’s leaders in the battery industry, thanks to strong state support and aggressive cost-cutting. By scaling production of lithium-ion cells, they manufacture the majority of the world’s battery capacity. China has access to raw materials and scale efficiencies, which also help its output. (BBC)

Happening near Campus: Mayor Eric Adams has announced that B-HEARD, a pilot launched to address mental health calls with a non-police response, will be restaffed. These teams can be deployed to help people in mental health crises. The model will now run without FDNY EMTs, allowing them to focus on other types of calls. (Gothamist).

Happening on Campus: Today is the InterCollegiate Women in Medicine Conference, which brings together undergraduate and medical students and trailblazing women in healthcare. There is a range of cancer researchers and physician-scientists. More information can be found here
