Happening off-Campus: Today is the first day of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The first gold medal of the competition went to Swiss skier Franjo von Allmen, who won the men’s downhill event. Among the Americans, ski racer Lindsey Vonn finished third place out of 21 racers in a training session despite a ruptured ACL. (BBC)

Happening near Campus: On February 6, a federal judge announced that Luigi Mangione would stand trial in June. This trial will be in New York state court, for murder and firearms charges, while a federal trial is slated for a few months after. Mangione is accused of the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, however he will not face the death penalty in the federal case. (Gothamist)

Happening on Campus: Tonight at 7:30 pm in the Miller Theatre, musicians John Medeski and Kirk Knuffke will play jazz music under the name The Angelic Brothers.
