“Where Art Thou” is a weekly guide to interesting and notable lectures, events, and performances for the literary/musically/theatrically-inclined. However, our first week back from summer break, we will be covering the bountiful number of Fall 2026 auditions instead.
If you have an event or a group that you’d like to be featured, send us an email at arts@bwog.com. We try to include as many events as we can find and fit, but reaching out to us is the best way to make sure your event is promoted to the student community and is covered by a staffer.
Dance
- Monday, September 14, 8:30 pm-12 am, Roone Auditorium (Lerner Hall)
- Columbia’s Latin dance troupe holds auditions for their energetic group. As a club, Sabor pays vibrant tribute to Latin culture and dance through their showcases, workshops, and community outreach.
- Thursday, September 17, 9 pm, Lerner Ramps (B60)
- Join Columbia’s African Dance Group for dynamic and empowering dance. “No experience necessary.”
- Sunday, September 20, 12-2 pm, Lerner 555
- Orchesis is a fun and inspired dance troupe open to dancers of all levels. All are welcome, as everyone is cast in one of their productions!

- Onyx is a propulsive hip-hop dance group dedicated to “empowering femme people.” Although details for their auditions aren’t clear, you can find their interest form here.
Music

- Columbia’s wind ensemble performs both classical and contemporary works for a soaring journey in wind instruments. To audition, record an audition and submit it at the form above. Note: each instrument is assigned a specific excerpt for auditions.

CUPAL Theater Auditions/Interviews
- Monday, September 14, Tuesday, September 15, Wednesday, September 16, 8 pm-12 am, Hamilton Hall 3rd Floor
- Columbia University Performing Arts League (CUPAL) arranges a vast medley of auditions for anyone interested in theater, musical or otherwise. Shows open for auditions include Columbia Musical Theater Society’s Come From Away and Columbia University Players’ Do You Feel Anger?. Comedy troupes like Third Wheel Improv and Chowdah Sketch Comedy will also be holding auditions. Universal audition and interview forms are also required before auditions.
133rd Varsity Show Creative Team Applications

- The Varsity Show, Columbia’s “oldest performing arts tradition,” invites you to apply for the creative team behind its 133rd annual show! Each year, the Varsity Show crafts an entirely student-made musical, a sweet and sardonic ode to life as a Columbia student.
