Happening off-Campus: The European Union’s Chief Ursa von der Leyen has officially backed plans outlining Canada’s joining the EU as an associate member. This is a new position, historically never having been occupied by a state, meaning that the process for its development could take years. Despite this, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke optimistically of the possibility of forming a “unique alliance” with the Union. (BBC)

Happening near Campus: In the Brooklyn neighborhood Park Slope, a local bodega cat has returned home after disappearing Tuesday morning. The cat, named Jabal, was stolen from Eight Street Mini Mart by 2 individuals, who were later apprehended by the NYPD. Jabal’s owners and loving community members have rejoiced at his return, and the owners have plans to keep him as an indoor cat for the foreseeable future. (NYT)
