Artist, activist, and all around flower child Naeem Mohaiemen delivers a multimedia talk on failed activism during the 1970s and its contemporary implications.  Warrantless wiretapping, anyone?

Curumin with Money Mark

This Brazilian band livens up the Mercury Lounge’s dance floor with a distinctly modern South American sound.

Idiotarod 2009

Saturday 9am, various locations

New York’s infamous spin on the Iditarod puts New Yorkers overcoming obstacles in our own city.  It’s an engaging and entertaining day. BYOSC (Bring Your Own Shopping Cart).

Cheech & Chong

The duo “lights up” Radio City for a one-night-only appearance.

Sunday

The 1939 Project: American Arts at a Turning Point

February 1st-26th daily, see website for times. Symphony Space 2537 Broadway (212.864.1414)

Big bands, classic movies, and iconic novels of 1939 will all be explored during this month-long festival.  2009 and 1939 have a lot of in common; this series aims to bring out those cultural continuities.

    I lost some matte green Ray-Ban sunglasses during the last night of Senior Week revelry outside EC. If anyone finds them, take pity because they were the only thing that fools people into thinking that I’m cool. One delicious burrito dinner reward for their safe return.   • Lost: Flower Earrings & Mood Ring (Apr 18 2012)

    These were lost potentially on philosophy lawn on the evening of April 17th. The earrings are large silver flower cutouts and the mood ring is a blue band with small flowers inset.
