Fotorush is going on permanent Spring Break beginning in two weeks.
The Broadway photo developer plans to close March 27, according to a sign posted on its entrance between Liberty House and The Shoe Tree (née Global Ink). Bwog confirmed the announcement with Fotorush’s manager, who says “business has not been good” in These Economic Times.
Maybe that depends on who’s counting. It’s worth noting that business information firm Cortera estimates Fotorush pulled in annual sales worth $1 million to $5 million as recently as 2007 — that’s a lot of passport photos.
So, though we may not know what finally sank Fotorush, one thing is for sure: the Morningside Death Toll continues to climb.

@duder Meh. I used to love fotorush’s convenience until I walked in one day and saw them dragging the emulsion side of some negatives across a computer keyboard. Sheesh. I’m sad to see them go because they’re a photo developing place and they had pretty good scans for the price, but they could have been better and awesome. I guess I’ll go pick up some B&H mailers now.
@dammit Fotorush was very useful to have around. Then again, I’m an international student. But I’m sure it helped everyone studying abroad/ going abroad for spring or fall break.
@even hipsters are getting hit hard.
NOW WHO’S GOING TO DEVELOP YOUR POLAROIDS THAT YOU WILL END UP SCANNING AND POSTING ON FACEBOOK, SHOWING HOW RETRO AND HIP YOU ARE????? OMGGGG
@... YOU DON’T FUCKING DEVELOP POLAROIDS.
THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM POLAROIDS.
