Happening in the US: Public schoolteachers in Los Angeles expect to end their weeklong strike after negotiating with public officials regarding class sizes, full-time nurses, access to librarians, and standardized testing. The strike affected more than half a million students in the country’s second-largest public school system. (NY Times)
Happening in NYC: Residents in 68 and 70 Claremont Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn were evacuated after a crack was discovered in the building’s foundation. Residents reported the building appeared to be leaning from the outside and felt slanted from the inside. (ABC 7)
