cows just want an education

Happening in the World: Farmers in Edalpur, India locked cows in public schools to prevent them from destroying crops. Nearby villages followed suit, occupying schools with cows and sparking outrage amongst educators. Happening in the US: Public schoolteachers in Los Angeles expect to end their weeklong strike after negotiating with public officials regarding class sizes, full-time nurses, access to librarians, and standardized testing. The strike affected more than half a million students in the country’s second-largest public school system. (NY Times)

Happening in NYC: Residents in 68 and 70 Claremont Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn were evacuated after a crack was discovered in the building’s foundation. Residents reported the building appeared to be leaning from the outside and felt slanted from the inside. (ABC 7)

Happening on Campus: There will be a performance of Medea at the Lenfest Center for the Arts at 8:00 pm.

Overheard: “It’s so cold in my room that my mattress topper froze.”
