It’s a beautiful new Friday! Be sure to catch up on the news before you head to Avery to start grinding for those midterms. In today’s news: California is flooding, Portugal declares a day of mourning, and Broadway is popping off.

Happening in the World: Portugal has declared a national day of mourning for all domestic violence victims in response to the increases of attacks in 2019. So far, eleven will have already been killed by acts of domestic violence.

Happening in the US: A small town in California has officially become an island due to severe flooding. All roads leading to the town have been flooded, so no one can enter or exit the community. If that doesn’t make you paranoid about global warming, I don’t know what will.

Happening in NYC: New York is getting eleven new shows on Broadway this next week, so if you’re looking for something to do before midterms take control of your life, grab a ticket while they last!

Happening on Campus: Tomorrow night the semesterly Barnumbia Regional Poetry Slam is taking place from 7 to 10 in Milbank 405! The team will be publicly performing their pieces for the first time this year in preparation for nationals — they’re like, kind of a big deal. (P.S. There’s a $5 suggested donation.)

Fun Fact of the Day: Cows moo in accents specific to their region, just like humans.
