Housing Review by Reid resident:

Location: The Quad (3009 Broadway)

  • Nearby dorms: the rest of the quad, 600s, Schapiro, Elliot, and Furnald
  • Stores and restaurants: Halal Cart + food trucks, Morton Williams, Sweetgreen, Starbucks, Tom’s Restaurant,Haagen-Dazs,

Cost: $10,435 per year, $5,217.50 per semester

Amenities:

  • Bathrooms: bathrooms on every floor, one per hall, has two stalls and two showers. This spring the water has decided to be hot when it feels like it, not when you want it.
  • AC/Heating: no AC, so definitely bring a fan. No problems with the heating
  • Kitchen: There’s one on every floor, but it’s in Sulz. Just a quick walk down the hall.
  • Lounge: Also in Sulz, same room as the kitchen.
  • Laundry: One laundry room per hall, cost is $1.75 for washing and drying (separately)
  • Computers/Printing: You have to go downstairs to the Brooks computer lab, in the basement.
  • Gym: Gotta go to Barnard hall for that. If you like exercising at all odd hours, I would recommend bringing your own yoga mat.
  • Intra-transportation: (i.e. elevators) 2 elevators accessible from the lobby.
  • Hardwood/Carpet: halls are carpeted, rooms has linoleum tile. You might want to bring your own rugs if you’re into that, but for me it’s just more to clean.
  • Bonus (if applicable): Reid’s windows are facing Columbia, so you have an excellent view of Broadway.

Room variety: All doubles

Bwog recommendation:

Besides the first week I was here, when it was 90 degrees outside and I had no AC, I’ve had a great experience living in Reid. If you can survive the heat for the first few weeks, you’re golden. Our rooms are very reasonably sized, and I’ve had no trouble with the bathrooms (except for when the water decides to only get hot when it FeeLS LiKe iT). You’re never too far from laundry rooms or the lounge which is a big plus. Also, THE VIEW. In the winter then the trees are lit on college walk you’re gonna love your Reid window.

Resident opinions:

  • “I really like the closet space and the view.”
  • “The blinds are annoying, and I think the closet doors should open out, not slide.”
  • “If this building had AC, it would be my favorite hands down. I feel like the people talk more.”

Lol this is not my bed

A mirror, coat thingy, and towel rack are in every room.

Study space or storage space

Classic college double. You can rearrange the furniture how you want.

This is your Reid closet, reporting for duty

Some bathrooms have two stalls, others have three. Depends on what floor you’re on.

The metal maybe doesn’t look the best, but it’s easy to keep clean.

View from the fifth floor of Reid. Halal cart is visible at the bottom :)))
