It’s nearly time for CC students to declare their majors, so most of the major departments (if they haven’t held them already) are holding open houses soon. Managing Editor Zack Abrams, fresh from screaming into a pillow for 8 hours straight, brings you more.

It’s freezing. You probably had a midterm this week, or two, and probably have one next week, or two. Spring Break, just past the horizon, seems further away than ever. Well, allow me to add one weight to the stress smorgasbord on your shoulders: major declaration is coming up soon!

From March 12th to March 15th, CC students will declare their majors using the online declaration system. Certain majors need written approval from the department, though; check out this form to find out if this affects you and submit a request for approval. For everyone else, you should be good to go! However, if you’re still unsure about which major to select, we sincerely recommend that you attend a departmental open house! You’ll be able to meet the staff of the department, ask relevant questions, and be confident when you go to declare. Most of them have already past, but here’s the schedule for the remaining open houses, as of 3/6:

Open Houses that have passed us by (what, you expect Bwog to be on top of these things?): American Studies, Anthropology, Art History & Archaeology, Chemistry and Biology, Creative Writing, East Asian Languages and Cultures (EALAC), Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology (E3B), Education, English & Comparative Literature, French, German, History, Human Rights, Italian, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Mathematics, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS), Political Science, Religion, Sociology, Statistics, Visual Arts.
