Hewitt waffles, zines, and lost Carman flip phones.

Name, School, Major, Hometown: Jade Levine; Barnard; Urban Studies; Princeton, NJ

Claim to fame: I made the Barnard Library stickers you have on your computer! Also, I had the megaphone at the gates during NSOP move-in 2017. (“When I say mattress, you say topper!…”)

Where are you going?: To spend $2.30 in points on a Sinn-a-bunn from Liz’s Place.

What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2023?
1) It’s really wonderful to go to your friends’ stuff (performances, games, dinner parties, club presentations). It’s great to get to see the people you love doing things they love! :-)
2) Ask for extensions and incompletes!
3) One way to spend a perfect afternoon is by eating sandwiches and potato chips from Appletree Deli in Sakura Park.

“Back in my day…” 2 pieces of Hewitt lore: 1) you could see all of your crushes while despondently eating nachos at late night and 2) there were cupcakes every Friday dinner with big bowls of vanilla and chocolate frosting.

Favorite Columbia controversy? How about a least favorite? R.I.P. Barnard Bartending.

Justify your existence in 30 words or fewer: I wrote this zine abstract in CLIO. It’s 43 words, but I think it’s almost perfect.

What was your favorite class at Columbia? I loved both Advanced Poetry Writing with Catherine Barnett (the kindest community I’ve ever found in a class) and Wetlands & Climate Change with Dorothy Peteet (we got to go take sediment cores in a salt marsh on Staten Island).

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? I am one of the only Barnard students I know who is ~not~ lactose intolerant. I would never give up cheese!!

Whom would you like to thank? Suze; all my Fitbear instructors; and my NSOP friends: Gemma, Rachel, Sophie E, Sophie F, Aaron, and Xander.

One thing to do before graduating: Make one last waffle at Hewitt with whipped cream, frozen raspberries, Nutella, and slivered almonds.

Any regrets? Trying to have fewer! I wish I had journaled a little more, and I wish I hadn’t dropped my flip phone into a Carman toilet and lost all my photos from fall 2015.
