Bwoglines: Sixteen-Year-Old Superstar Edition

It’s 59° Fahrenheit! Combat the cold with my very first Bwoglines!

Happening in the World: Yesterday, Time Magazine published a 2001 photo of Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, dressed up for an “Arabian Nights” themed party in blackface. Trudeau apologized, but the incident has some questioning, who is “the real Trudeau?” (NYTimes)

Happening in the US: After arriving in New York on her zero-emissions Sailboat, badass and 16-year-old icon Greta Thunberg urged Congress to “unite behind the science” and take real, meaningful action in regard to climate change (CNN).

Happening in NYC: In an effort for “park equity,” the Central Park Conservancy plans a $110 million dollar renovation of the Lasker Pool and Skating Rink in Central Park’s “mostly forgotten northwest corner” (NYTimes).

Happening on Campus: Head over to International Affairs room 1219 today at 1:00 to hear Alum Justin Jalea speak on his work and the intersection between music and human rights (Columbia Events)!

Social Station: Instagram is imposing new restrictions taking down and/or blocking users under 18 from posts that promote effortless rapid weight loss. Goodbye detox tea! (BBC)
