The Iowa Caucus results may have inconsistencies but this Bwoglines sure doesn’t!

Happening in the World: This morning, Doctor Li Wenliang, who treated cases of Wuhan coronavirus, died after contracting the virus himself. Wenliang had been outspoken about the virus and its effects, despite threats from the police and other officials to stop spreading “rumors” about it that were completely factual. (CNN)

Happening in the US: According to a review by NBC News, there are still many inconsistencies and potential errors in the Iowa Caucus results, which is significant because of how close of a race it was for Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigeig. The Iowa Democratic Party claims to have resolved these issues with these final numbers but NBC says mistakes remain. (NBC)

Happening in NYC: State regulators announced on Tuesday that renters will no longer have to pay broker fees, which are usually about 8-15% of a year’s rent and will instead be paid by landlords alone. This will make securing housing less of a financial hardship, but may cause landlords to raise their rent to cover the cost. (NYT)

Happening on Campus: Today, Barnard’s Computational Science Center is hosting an intermediate workshop in visualizing data with D3, a javascript library. The event will take place from 10 am to 12 pm in Milstein 516.

Poem: I didn’t know of Angel Nafis or her work until Wednesday when I had the privilege of hearing her read her poem “Woo Woo Roll Deep” and others at the NYPL but now I am obsessed! This beautiful friendship poem was my favorite from the reading.
