Sometimes romance is just stinky like that!

Happening in the World: Thanks to the research of a newly-published seven-year study, scientists have identified the ring-tailed lemur’s potential sex pheromones in an effort to learn about lemur’s reproductive behavior and attempt to save them from extinction. It turns out lemurs engage in “stink flirting,” which involves specific attractive smells produced from glands on the males’ wrists. (CNN)

Happening in the US: Passengers aboard the infamous Princess Cruise Line ships during the COVID-19 outbreak that affected over 800 passengers are suing the company for mishandling the situation. However, hundred-year-old maritime laws significantly limit the company’s liability and will be very tricky to work around, as in many maritime cases. (NBC)

Happening in NYC: Nurses are protesting the April 10th edict that has forced them to offer documentation for illness if they expect to be paid on days they call in sick. Health + Hospitals cite the recent surge in health care worker absences that do not seem to correspond to COVID-19 patterns as the reason for this directive; meanwhile hospital staffers are furious that this order comes despite a lack of preparation from the government. Poem: This week I am thrilled to recommend “People Are a Living Structure Like a Coral Reef” by Heather Christle! This poem is not only a great reminder that your friends are still out there loving you as you love them back, it is also extremely cute!
