Happening in the World: After three weeks of disappearance and global theorizing about his health, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has resurfaced, to which United States President Donald Trump responded that he is “glad to see” the North Korean leader. Speculation about Kim Jong-Un’s whereabouts and health were sparked after U.S. intelligence stated that he was “in grave danger after a surgery.” (CNN)
Happening in the US: Asian giant hornets, more commonly referred to as Murder Hornets, have been spotted in Washington State. This marks the first appearance of the insect in the United States. These hornets decapitate bees and kill an average of 50 people every year in Japan. (NYT)
Happening in NYC: Some 12,000 New York City residents have pledged to withhold rent this month as COVID-19 has led to 1.6 million New Yorkers losing their jobs since the beginning of the pandemic. A new study shows that 44% of residents have stated that they will not be able to pay rent on time this month. (Gothamist)
