We’re even a little thankful for Zoom!

It’s been a really tough year. It might be challenging to feel grateful, all things considered, but luckily, Bwog has never been one to shy away from a challenge. So, in no particular order, here is what Bwog is thankful for this year:

  • My large cat Velcro
  • The people who check in on me and remind me that if I am a fool, I am, at least, a good-hearted one
  • Leggings and very large t-shirts
  • Going for walks
  • Cinnamon raisin English muffins
  • The five pies I’m gonna make on Wednesday
  • My therapist
  • Professors who want you to /enjoy/ their classes
  • The security woman who always asks how my day is going
  • My lab partner who makes our awful online lab somewhat less bad
  • Chili ramen
  • Art which always keeps me company
  • My Miss Piggy piggy bank where you put the coins down her cleavage, she is so beautiful, strong, and unapologetic, and she inspires me every day
  • Zoom crying sessions
  • Professor Peter Connor
  • My lab partner who makes our awful online lab somewhat less bad
  • friends who bring me emotional support banana bread that they made
  • Stacey Abrams
  • Friends who text me at ungodly hours because things remind them of me
  • The Chloe x Halle album, “Ungodly Hour”
  • My ridiculous family
  • Yummy beverages, which provide me with most of my happiness each day
  • Thorough and recent CULPA reviews
  • Neighborhood cats
  • It becoming socially acceptable for me to purchase copious amounts of squishmallows
  • My cat Muffin
  • The Sims
  • Friends who send me letters that never fail to make me smile
  • Bwog Slack
  • Progress and growth, even if it is not linear
  • The objectively ugly but subjectively beautiful North Carolina autumn
  • A hopeful-seeming future
  • The ability to remember good things
  • Discord calls with friends
  • Professor Kyle Hayden, for making linear algebra valid and, dare I say it, fun
  • Spotify premium
  • My small cat who doesn’t like to eat much, Tooncie
  • People who turn their cameras on in breakout rooms
  • My dialogue class
  • Vodka sodas
  • The catharsis of manic dance parties
  • TikTok lesbians <3
  • The adorable dog that lives on my floor
  • Coffee
  • Watching the sunset (or sunrise) from my room
  • Jennifer Rhodes, my LitHum professor
  • My electric blanket
  • Friends who bring me emotional support banana bread that they made
  • Hot chai
  • Columbia/Barnard having pretty school colors, so I don’t have to wear something ugly like orange all the time
  • Saskia Hamilton, for being an incredible advisor who supports me no matter what
  • Most of all, cookies

And finally, we’re thankful for YOU, the person reading this. It’s truly a blessing to be able to engage with our readers, especially when we’re physically far apart. Thank you for reading our stuff, as bizarre, esoteric, and (hopefully) informative, as it is. We couldn’t do it without you. Have a healthy, restful break, and we’ll see you for our regularly scheduled programming again on Monday, November 30!
