Happening in the world: Russia invaded Ukraine on Wednesday night after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a military operation was to take place. Many have reported explosions in several Ukrainian cities. US President Joe Biden condemned the attacks and assured that he will monitor the situation and meet with G7 leaders this morning. (BBC)

Happening in the US: A truck caravan formed in California that is meant to be protesting COVID-19 government mandates is on its way to Washington, D.C. The convoy is said to have similar intentions as the Canadian convoy that shut down parts of Canada recently. Many of the participants are said to be extreme right-wing, and some have affiliations with the January 6 Capitol attack. (NYT)

Happening in NYC: NYC Comptroller Brad Lander said that the city failed to respond to complaints of COVID-19 equipment price-gouging. During the twelve months between March 2020 and February 2021, there were 38,000 complaints of price-gouging around the city, but a small percentage were ever actually investigated, according to Lander. Happening in Our Community: Columbia’s Ukrainian Film Club will screen Valentyn Vasyanovych’s feature documentary Crepuscule (2013). The film features the director’s family and discusses life and death. There will be a post-screening discussion moderated by Professor Yuri Shevchuk after the screening.
