Happening in the World: The United Nations’ Refugee agency has claimed that the UK’s plan to relocate asylum seekers to Rwanda is illegal. The Agency has stated that it was an unacceptable attempt to “shift responsibility.” British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, maintains that the plan is in accordance with international law. (BBC)

Happening in the US: Twitter has tried to thwart Elon Musk’s takeover bid with a “poison pill” strategy. Poison pills are designed to give corporate boards the ability to flood the market with newly created stock in order to make a takeover “prohibitively expensive.” Musk is yet to comment on this development. Happening in NYC: The New York City Transport Department is considering installing a type of “weapon detector”  in subway stations after the Sunset Park Shooting. These new-age scanners would be able to distinguish between a phone and a firearm. These devices are already used in places such as the MoMA, Lincoln Center, and New York Presbyerian Hospital. Happening in Our Community: Raw Elementz, Columbia’s oldest Hip Hop dance group, is hosting their annual “Rawkus” event, to showcase their work.
