Sophie A. Bryant, Astrid M. Liden, and Ilina Logani were announced as winners of the postgraduate scholarship to study at the University of Oxford beginning in 2023.

On Saturday, the Rhodes Trust announced its 2023 US Rhodes Scholarship recipients, which include three members of the Columbia community. The three recipients, Sophie Bryant (CC ’22), Astrid Liden (CC ’23), and Ilina Logani (CC ’22), were nominated by the university for the prestigious honor.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and one of  the most prestigious international fellowships in the world. Each year, only 32 US Rhodes Scholars are chosen from around the country. According to the Office of the American Secretary at the Rhodes Trust, Rhodes Scholars are chosen for “their outstanding scholarly achievements…their character, the commitment to others and to the common good, and for their potential for leadership in whatever domains their careers may lead.”

Sophie Bryant is a senior at Columbia studying Mathematics and East Asian Languages and Cultures, and she intends to pursue the Master of Philosophy in Global and Area Studies at the University of Oxford.

Astrid Liden is a senior in the College studying Political Science and Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and she will complete the Master of Science in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at Oxford.
