Happening in the World: At the Munich Security Conference last Friday, February 17, dozens of world leaders convened in Germany and pledged to support the war efforts in Ukraine for ‘as long as necessary.’ Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appeared on a video chat to plead with Western leaders and urge them against “fatigue” and for accelerated weapon delivery. The war is expected to last at least another year, which will be a test of American and European unity. (New York Times)

Happening in NYC: The escaped Eurasian owl, Flaco, is still loose two weeks after his initial escape from the Central Park Zoo. The Zoo staff attempted to capture him using female Eurasian owl sounds on Friday night, but was unsuccessful, though Flaco did respond with hoots of his own. The staff says that capturing him has been difficult given that he has been able to successfully catch and consume the plentiful prey that exists in Central Park. They will pause the recapture for now, which will resume if he shows signs of distress. A new petition has been started to advocate for his permanent freedom. (CBS News) (Gothamist)
