The grand opening of Morningside Heights’ newest tonsorium.
After turning right upon exiting McBain’s 6 floor stairwell, one is met by a quaint bathroom. Small, yet cozy, the single-use room is home to one of Columbia’s premier hair-cutting establishments. Owned by Rhode Island scholar Elias Reville, the Bwarbershop goes leaps and bounds above the competition not only in service but in ability as well.
For the first time in 22 months, I decided it was time for a change. Knowing I couldn’t just go anywhere to get just any old haircut, I made sure to go to the best available. Upon arriving, Reville and his assistant, Leon, sat me down on quite the comfy desk chair and carefully listened as I explained what I was looking for. After our consultation, the two quickly got to work partitioning my hair and executing our plan.
While sitting for the haircut, I changed my mind about the end product a few times, giving the Bwarbershop a chance to show off its extensive portfolio of hairstyles. Good chatter during the process helped me let go of my long hair and instilled a level of confidence within me that I hadn’t had before. Comments such as “Wow, it actually looks kinda good” and “I try to cut my dad’s hair once in a while” completely eased my mind.

Overall, I have nothing but outstanding recommendations for the Bwarbershop after attending its grand opening. Reville curates his business towards the client, providing thought-provoking conversation as his scissors whir past your ears. His assistant also offers premium leg shaving for free with any cut, making the Bwarbershop the only stop you’ll ever need to make. I was truly impressed.
