Happening in the World: London mayor Sadiq Khan has reassured commuters that everything is being done to ensure that the bedbug infestation in France will not spread to the city’s transport system, as regular cleaning of tubes and buses are taking place across the city. (BBC)
Happening in the US: House Republicans remain divided over who should lead them before a closed-door meeting this morning as to who they will choose to nominee for a speaker. The possibility of a vote coming on the House floor this afternoon is looking increasingly unlikely. Several Republicans emerged from a closed-door gathering last night saying they were no closer to coalescing behind a nominee. (NYT)
Happening in NYC: According to the Environmental Protection Agency, tens of thousands of tons of hazardous waste are stored in coastal facilities threatened by sea level rise in New York and New Jersey. EPA officials have said that if these sites are not safeguarded properly, floodwaters could carry toxic chemicals stored within into our streets and waterways. This could harm people and animals.
