Happening in the World: Four executives of Chinese smartphone company Vivo were arrested by India’s financial crime agency this morning. Vivo was first accused of money laundering in 2022. Last week, Vivo was formally accused by India’s financial crime agency of illegally transferring funds in order to spread Chinese propaganda. This may add strain to China and India’s already tense relationship. (Reuters)
Happening in the US: Today, four GOP presidential candidates will meet with donors in Park City, Utah, at an event hosted by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Around 250 potential donors will meet with Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, and Doug Bergum later today in closed-door sessions. The donors are looking for a candidate that could be successful running against Donald Trump. (Washington Post)
Happening in NYC: Antonio Reynoso, borough president of Brooklyn, has unveiled a new plan for the borough which seeks to correct issues and inequities in the borough. The plan includes adding more trees, CitiBikes, affordable housing, and an Interborough Express public transit system between marginalized neighborhoods in Brooklyn and parts of Queens. The plan contains around 200 recommendations in 201 pages. (Gothamist)
