In honor of her semester goal to work out more in Riverside Park, Staff writer Akshara Santoshkumar compiles a list of her favorite late 2000s and 2010s music to motivate you on your next Hot Girl Walk or Run!
With the beginning of the year comes new schedules, clubs, friends, and of course, your new semester goal—which people probably will forget about by the time shopping week is over. The most common ones that I have heard recently are to eat healthy, not overcommit, not spend every waking moment in Butler, or actually go to bed before midnight most days (calling myself out).
This year, I’ve made it my mission to start running outside and going on walks more in Riverside Park. Will I stick to my goal by the time winter comes around? Who knows.
To motivate myself to trek all the way from Plimpton to Riverside, I decided I needed to create a playlist to hype myself up on the walk there and when I started running. When compiling my playlist, I knew there was only one era of music that I had to listen to: the 2010s and late 2000s. In my opinion, the late 2000s to 2010s is arguably the best era of music. In the genre, I feel like you have a little of everything —from old Taylor, dance-pop by Lady Gaga, or emo-rock by Fall Out Boy.
I consider myself somewhat of an expert in the 2010s/late 2000s music genre because I grew up listening to all of the music — my older sister forced me to listen to all of her favorite songs, which I later grew to be obsessed with.
Because of my self-proclaimed expertise, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite 2010s/2000s music, which you can listen to on your next Hot Girl Walk or Run in Riverside Park!
