Happening in the World: After Cuba’s main energy plant failed on Friday, much of the country remains without power as Hurricane Oscar approaches. With schools and businesses closed in order to reserve power for hospitals, Cuba is in a critical energy situation, and the approach of Oscar threatens the infrastructure of Cuba’s energy grid further. The president of Cuba has blamed the decades-long US embargo for the power grid failure, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero added that fuel shortages due to fewer oil shipments from Venezuela are also a major cause. Happening in the US: The New York Yankees advance to their first World Series since 2009. After defeating the Guardians 5-2 in Game 5, the team has ended their 15-year drought from playing in the World Series—a tie for the franchise’s record for the gap between pennants. The most notable play of the game was in the 10th inning, where Juan Soto scored a three-run homer. (NBC)

Police arrested a 19-year-old who they believe acted as a lookout, but the rest of the suspects got away with the merchandise. (ABC)
