Happening in the US: Indianapolis man Raymond Childs III is found guilty of shooting a pregnant woman who was nearly due to give birth and four of her relatives. After three hours, the jury found Childs guilty of six counts of murder. His sentencing was set for January 7; he faces 40 to 65 years in prison on each murder count and 20 to 40 years on the attempted murder charge. (NBC)
Happening in NYC: Jaywalking was legalized in New York City just this weekend after legislation passed through city council a month ago, to which mayor Eric Adams had declined to take action. A sponsor of the legislation says the new law “ends racial disparities in enforcement,” noting that last year, more than 90% of people issued jaywalking tickets were Black and Latino. (Guardian)
