Happening in the World: Kremlin spokesperson confirmed Former President Donald Trump did send COVID-19 testing devices to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the height of the pandemic, when machines were short in supply. The spokesperson denied the claim that Trump and Putin have spoken on the telephone several times since Trump left office. (NBC)
Happening in the US: In a death penalty case in Oklahoma, the attorney general has sided with the defendant, inmate Richard Glossip, as the Supreme Court is set to weigh whether his murder conviction should be thrown out on Wednesday. If Glossip wins, his conviction would be thrown out and sent back to a lower court for a new trial. (NBC)
Happening in NYC: Demonstrations across the city marking the first anniversary of October 7—Hamas’ attack on Israel and the start of Israel’s relentless year-long bombing of Gaza—were largely peaceful gatherings. The NYPD says seven were detained, charges ranged from graffiti to resisting arrest. No major property damage was reported. (Gothamist)
