Happening in the World: In Zambia, residents are experiencing extreme power outages and power cuts. Many cities and towns have been dealing with electricity outages for up to three days at a time. Zambia gets most of their power from waters and reservoirs, which have been partially depleted due to the severe ongoing drought. Additionally, many businesses make money by having people pay them to charge their phones. The financial burden also restricts Zambia’s government ability to import power suppliers. (BBC)

The fires killed over 100 people and displaced thousands of residents. The fires also triggered many residents to pursue lawsuits of Hawaiian Electric, Maui County and the state of Hawaii. (NBC)
