Happening in the World: On Thursday, same-sex marriage was legalized in Thailand through the enactment of the Marriage Equality Act. Over 1800 couples had been married by the end of Thursday. Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia and the third place in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. (AP)

Happening in the US: U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour temporarily blocked Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship for children born to migrants in the U.S. temporarily or without legal status. Coughenour called the order “blatantly unconstitutional” as it directly goes against the 14th Amendment granting full citizenship to all persons “born or naturalized in the United States.” (NPR)

Happening in NYC: A 34-year-old man was shot in Brooklyn at approximately 10:16 pm last night. The shooting was reported just minutes after the NYPD announced in a statement that there had been no shooting victims in the past five days—marking the longest stretch without a recorded shooting victim in the last 30 years. Hours later, at 1 am on Friday, a 17-year-old was shot in the Bronx. No arrests have been made in either shooting. (ABC 7)
