Happening in the World: Canada and Mexico ordered retaliatory tariffs on American goods in response to Trump’s sweeping tariffs. Canada initially ordered tariffs of 25% on American imports starting Tuesday, including beverages, cosmetics, and paper products worth 30 billion Canadian dollars ($20 billion). So far, Mexico has not mentioned any rate or products. (AP)
Happening in the US: Five people remain hospitalized after a medevac jet carrying a pediatric patient and her mother crashed into a neighborhood in Philadelphia on Friday night, killing seven people. At least 22 people on the ground were injured, and three are in critical condition. Officials are still working to identify the cause of the crash. (CNN)
Happening in NYC: The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers is asking for special placards allowing drivers to park in otherwise ticketable locations for ten minutes to use the restroom. “We have a lot of drivers that are diabetics, drivers that have kidney problems, and a lot of drivers that are waiting for transplants,” a NYS FTD spokesperson said. “And when they double-park or they park to use a bathroom, they get ticketed—taking away their entire day’s profit.” (Gothamist)
