Post Super Bowl Blues? TWIB is here to save the day!
Highlights:
This weekend, both the men’s and women’s fencing teams placed second at the 2025 Ivy League Championships in an impressive display. On Saturday, both teams went undefeated on the first day of the tournament. Going into day two, the men beat Harvard 17-10, sending them to a final match-up against the Princeton Tigers. Although they fought hard to the end, Princeton clinched the win, placing the Lions in second. The women defeated Cornell in a 20-7 win before falling short to Harvard by just one point in their second match-up of the day. In their final round, the women were victorious against Princeton, taking second place. This was a big weekend for individual awards as well, with senior Justin Haddad (CC ‘25) picking up the epée title and freshman Will Morrill (CC ‘28) placing first in saber. Sophomore Sam Kumbla (CC ‘27) also defended his title as the Ivy League Foil Champion. Tierna Oxenreider (CC ‘26) took the women’s epée title.
Men’s basketball beat Brown in a nail-biter finish, coming back from being down 10 with just over three minutes left in the game. Gerard O’Keefe (CC ‘28) was a standout all game long, leading the scoring with 22 points in his 27 minutes in the game. After trailing for the majority of the game, Kenny Noland (CC ‘26) made a free throw, bringing the score to an even 72 all, starting the Lions’ upward trajectory. To end off a tense fourth quarter, Blair Thompson (CC ‘26) scored a lay-up with just eight seconds left, leading the Lions to a victory and adding to his game total of 11 points.
