The Final TWIB of February!

Highlights:

On Saturday, Women’s Lacrosse took down Monmouth 11-8 to clinch their first win of the semester! With the score resting at 3-0 Lions, Monmouth scored four straight goals, to which senior Ellie Taylor (CC ‘25) answered with a goal to tie the score. Senior Dani Falcone was a standout offensively all game, scoring three of the team’s goals and a hat trick, followed by two goals from junior Cecelia Messner (CC ‘26). During the third quarter, the Lions were unstoppable, scoring four straight goals to bring the score to a 10-6 lead. Serena Hong (CC ‘26) held down the lead with her fourth-quarter goal. Goalkeeper Ava Kimche (CC ‘27) dominated defensively with 12 saves, aiding the Lions in their standout victory.

Former Columbia Lions Abbey Hsu (CC ‘24) and Kaitlyn Davis (CC ‘23) have both signed training contracts in the WNBA. Hsu will be training with the Connecticut Sun after being drafted in the 2024 Draft as the 34th overall pick. As a senior, Hsu was ranked No. 1 in the Ivy League and top 25 in the NCAA, scoring a Columbia record-breaking 2,126 points in four seasons. Davis will be staying in New York, having signed a contract with the New York Liberty. Following Hsu, Davis was the 35th overall pick in the 2024 Draft. As a Lion, Davis scored the first triple-double in Columbia women’s basketball history. After a slew of achievements in three seasons as a Lion, Davis transferred to USC, where she advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
