Bwog recommendation:
Nuss is an excellent option for juniors and seniors, especially if you plan on moving in with friends—its suite-style rooms create more of an apartment-style living experience. The location is a major bonus, with easy access to Wu and Nussbaum for a quick bagel, The Blue Bottle to fuel your caffeine addiction, or the nearby French restaurant, Le Monde, for a sit-down meal. It is close enough to campus for convenience but just far enough to ensure you get your daily steps in.
The attached kitchens, though compact, make cooking and dining off-campus easy. However, be ready for some seasonal challenges. The lack of AC may have you purchasing a fan in the summer months while the inconsistent heating in winter might have you layering up with extra blankets.
Overall, living at Nuss is a bit of a gamble—your view might be a stunning cityscape… or a brick wall, your laundry could wash well… or mysteriously vanish and/or set on fire, and the toilets may work flawlessly… or only one might, and it will always be occupied. But whether your experience is positive or negative, one thing is for sure: living in Nuss will give you stories to tell. With its beautiful architecture, grand lobby, and friendly security guards, it just might be worth the risk.
Resident opinions:
- “My favorite part about Nuss is how friendly front desk security are.”
- “This was my first year here at Nuss and I want to stay!”
- “The only thing I can complain about is the bathroom situation. We have three toilets yet only one seems to be working throughout the year. It’s so annoying!”
- I moved into Nussbaum with my three friends and we love it. It feels like we have our own apartment.”
- “I honestly chose Nuss because of how beautiful the building is.”
- “I have lost too many pairs of underwear to the washers and dryers!”
- “The walls are thin… very thin…”
- “It’s proximity to Wu and Nussbaum means that I can go and get my weekly bacon, egg, and cheese bagel in my pjs. It’s great!”
- “The building not having a water filter is the worst part. I have to go over to SIC just to fill up my water bottle.”
- “Some rooms have a really nice view of the city. My view is a brick wall.”
- A Whisper: “I hear there are rats in the basement.”
