Happy Women’s History Month! Celebrate with TWIB!
Highlights:
On Friday, the men’s tennis team walked away with a 7-0 victory over Tulsa at home. In the top-seeded, junior duo Michael Zheng (CC ‘26) and Nicholas Kotzen (CC ‘26) took down Tusla’s team with a score of 6-2, starting out the day on a strong note. After a response from Tulsa in the No. 2 seed, seniors Hugo Hashimoto (CC ‘25) and Jayden Templeman (CC ‘25) clinched the win in a tense match with a score of 6-4. Kotzen, Hashimoto, and Palta also walked away with singles wins in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 positions, respectively. To end off a successful day, Thanaphat Boosarawongse (CC ‘28) took the No. 5 position singles title, with Zheng and Westphal following suit with the No. 1 and No. 3 wins. Overall, the Lions outshined Tulsa and look to continue their streak next week.
Women’s tennis also had a great weekend, winning four singles matches. Sophomore Gayathri Krishnan (CC ‘27) won in the No. 2 position with a score of 6-4, 6-3. Sophia Wang (CC ‘26) followed up with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot. To finish off a great run, Amber Yin (CC ‘28) put up a 6-2, 7-6 win in the No. 4 matchup. In response, Memphis put up wins in the five and six singles. Coming back with a vengeance, Malak El Allami (CC ‘28) put up an amazing performance, clinching the overall win for the Lions with a final score of 4-3. Her match was as tense as can be, with El Allami conceding the first set 3-6 before coming back to end the match 6-4, 6-4 in the second and third sets.
