Last TWIB of March!

Highlights: 

On Friday, the Columbia Softball team competed against Harvard Crimson, taking home a win in the first game of their three-game series with a score of 9-8. To start off the day strong, sophomore Payton Shimansky (CC ’27) scored the opening run at the top of the first inning. Despite a Harvard run at the bottom of the first, Olivia Madkins (CC ’27) responded with a home run, giving the Lions two runs to establish a 3-2 lead. Pitcher Emmy Davis (CC ’28) was a standout all game, helping to solidify the Lions’ lead. At the top of the fourth, the Lions put three runs on the board led by Maddie Souza (CC ’25), Sarah Mikami (SEAS ’26), and Juju O’Brien (CC ’28) at bat. After trailing 7-8 in the sixth inning, Mikami inspired a two-run home run. 

This was a day of firsts for multiple players, with both Madkins and Shimansky scoring the first home runs of their career.
