Intro to Dabke Dance

  • Wednesday, April 9, 3 to 5 pm, CUSON rooftop (560 W 168th Street, Medical Campus)
  • The South West Asia Northern African (SWANA) Employee Resource Group will lead a historical introduction to dabke, a Levantine folk dance, before inviting participants to learn the basic steps of dabke and practice the communal dance together. No dance experience is required.

Disability Zines & Zine Making

  • Wednesday, April 9, 2 to 3:30 pm, Barnard Zine Library (Milstein Library second floor)
  • For Barnard’s Accessibility Week, the Zine Library will partner with the Disability Employee Resource Group to share zines related to disability and to invite participants to create their own zines. Registration is required, and snacks will be provided. 

Jiyoung Wi – Sound Fiction 

  • Thursday, April 10, 2 to 4 pm, Dodge Hall 701C 
  • Jiyoung Wi will share her latest work, “4’44,” “a multilingual sonic fiction that explores memories of state and interpersonal violence.” She will also discuss her improvisational practices. This event is part of the Comparing Domains of Improvisation discussion group.

FGLI Artist Gallery

  • Thursday, April 10, 7 to 9 pm, Dodge Hall 501
  • Columbia’s FLI Network will host an artist gallery celebrating FGLI artists’ work. The event will include visual art and performances by students. The event is part of FLI Network’s GenWeek, celebrating Columbia’s FGLI community. 

Introductory Cumbia Lesson 

  • Friday, April 11, 6:30 to 9 pm, Lerner Hall Broadway Room
  • This beginner-friendly cumbia lesson, hosted by the Student Organization of Latines (SOL), the Chicanx Caucus, and the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS), will introduce participants to this Latin American dance form. The event is geared towards students and dancers of all levels are welcome to join. Agua de Jamaica and horchata will be served. 

Alive: The Mary Shelley Musical

  • Friday, April 11, 7 pm, and Saturday, April 12, 2 and 7 pm, Glicker-Milstein Theatre
  • First Stages, a Columbia theater group that presents original musicals by student writers, lyricists, composers, and performers, presents Alive: The Mary Shelley Musical, telling the story of Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein.

CoLab x MoLab

  • Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, 7:30 pm, Movement Lab (Milstein Library lower level)
  • CoLab is a student-run dance group that presents new student choreography each semester in various styles. They will present their Movement Lab show, featuring short new works.

Columbia Repertory Ballet Spring Gala

  • Saturday, April 12, 7:30 pm, Ailey Citygroup Theatre (405 West 55th Street)
  • Columbia Repertory Ballet, Columbia’s student-run ballet ensemble dedicated to performing preexisting contemporary and classical ballet repertoire, will present their spring gala. Repertory includes classical ballet excerpts and works by Durante Verzola, Gerald Arpino, and Kendall Bottjer (BC ‘23).

Columbia Ballet Collaborative Spring Gala

  • Sunday, April 13, 6 pm, Miller Theatre
  • Columbia Ballet Collaborative is Columbia’s oldest student-run ballet ensemble, curating new works by both external and student choreographers. They will present five new works in their spring gala, including one by student choreographer Tatiana Heintz (CC ‘26).
