Four months is a long time!
Summer is fast approaching, and I’m feeling strangely sentimental. Like many of you, I will be going back home for the summer and won’t be back on campus until the fall semester. So, for those of us going home, I’ve compiled a list of ways to feel a little bit more like we’ve had a Columbia summer! Results may vary.
- Instead of sleeping on your actual mattress, sleep on the floor! That will mimic the absolute rock-hard brick of a bed that comes with every Columbia dorm.
- Over the summer, ditch regular human toilet paper! Columbians only use that terrible one-ply Scott’s toilet paper, and you should be sure to keep that spirit alive all summer.
- Every time you try to go somewhere (grocery store, work, to visit a friend), be sure to circle your location at least twice. This will help you feel the inconvenience of the gates always being locked! Plus, you’ll get your steps in.
- If you’re missing the subway, I recommend investing in a guitar and playing it loudly every time you go for a car ride. You be the busker!
- You can call Subway employees Chef Mike. They might be confused, but it’s not illegal, so they can’t kick you out.
Against all odds, I’ll miss you, Columbia. See you in a few months!
