Hacks deserves another win.

Happening Off-Campus: Today is the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, taking place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Nominees include The White Lotus, Severance, Adolescence, The Penguin, Hacks, The Bear, Nobody Wants This and The Last of Us. Nominations are split into three categories: Comedy, Drama, and Limited Series. Comedian Nate Bargatze is hosting, and plans to donate $100,000 to charity, but with an interesting twist—for every person who goes over the time limit on their speech, Bargatze will decrease the amount of his donation. The ceremony begins at 8 pm EST. (BBC)

Happening Near Campus: Commuters fear a strike from workers at the Long Island Rail Road across five different unions. The LIRR serves more than 300,000 commuters each day, many of whom do not have access to other forms of transportation into the city. The MTA has not yet released a plan to provide service, which could include extra buses to connect to the subway lines in Queens. The unions say they have been without a new contract for three years, and may strike as soon as this Thursday, September 18. (Gothamist)

Happening on Campus: On Monday, September 15, the Maison Française is presenting a lecture titled “The Legacy of the Enlightenment: Ambivalences of Modernity.” Professor Antoine Lilti of the Collège de France is speaking at the event, in conversation with Columbia professors Carl Wennerlind and Joanna Stalnaker.
