Field Hockey stuns in a season-opening victory against UAlbany.

Highlights: 

On Friday, the field hockey team was victorious over UAlbany in a 3-0 win in Albany, NY. This was a historic win for the Lions, marking their first win over a ranked opponent since 2019 and the first for head coach Niki Miller. Sophomore Lizzie Adams (CC ‘28) scored Columbia’s first goal of the season with just 7:38 left in the second quarter with an assist from junior Mckenzie Bloom (CC ‘27). Almost immediately following Adams’ goal, Jacinta Solari Etcheberry (CC ‘28) scored to give the Lions a 2-0 lead at the half. 

To end off this standout season opener, freshman Izzy Kaczor (CC ‘29) scored her first goal as a Lion with an assist from senior Sophia Abate (CC ‘26). Throughout the game, goalkeeper Margot Houle (CC ‘28) made seven saves, helping the Lions to cement their lead and win the game. Go Lions!
