Iran, snowstorm, and DIY dog toys. Editors warning: mentions of violence

Happening off-Campus: The United States government is reportedly building up a variety of military assets in the Middle East. President Trump has announced that Iran has “10 to 15 days at most” to negotiate a deal regarding its nuclear program and missiles. Over the past few days, the US has seemingly deployed more than 120 aircraft to the region. Some experts and analysts have suggested that there is a possibility the US is planning to attack Iran, but its motives remain unclear. (Aljazeera News)

Happening near Campus: According to the NYPD, subway crime rose by up to 17% during the first five weeks of the year. The majority of the 246 reported major crime incidents involved offenses such as theft and assault. It has been speculated that, due to recent snowstorms, many homeless individuals and others committing these crimes are more likely to go underground and seek shelter. Expanding housing options for the homeless should be considered as one potential solution to help reduce the number of crimes occurring in the subway. (Gothamist)

Youtube Highlight of the Day: I’m currently watching YouTube podcasts and interviews with John Kiriakou, a former CIA agent.  He hasn’t told a single joke, but every one of his stories never fails to crack me up.
