Undergraduate Student Life is hosting a face-mask making event tonight!

Happening off-campus: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has declined to review Moderna’s application for a new mRNA-based flu vaccine. Moderna received a “refusal-to-file” letter citing concerns about how it conducted a 40,000-person clinical trial comparing the experimental shot to a standard flu vaccine. The study found the new vaccine was somewhat more effective in adults 50 and older. The decision comes amid heightened scrutiny of vaccines at the agency under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has previously criticized mRNA technology. (AP)

Happening near campus: Local NYC officials say they will work to restore the large Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument after it was removed this week under a Trump administration directive. The monument, designated in 2016 as the nation’s first site dedicated to LGBTQ+ rights, commemorates the 1969 Stonewall uprising led by transgender and queer activists. The NEW Pride Agenda advocacy group called the flag’s removal part of an effort to “whitewash” Stonewall, citing earlier removals of references to transgender people. Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Council Speaker Julie Menin criticized the decision but did not confirm that the flag would be reinstalled. (Gothamist)
