The billion-dollar battle for Warner Bros. Discovery is over.

Happening off-Campus: Yesterday, Netflix dropped its bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, ending a months-long battle with Paramount Skydance, which, according to Warner Bros., offered a “superior” $111 billion bid. If approved by antitrust regulators, a merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. could completely transform the media and entertainment industry, shifting ownership of Warner Bros.’ entire portfolio, which includes HBO Max, “Harry Potter,” and CNN (BBC).

Happening near Campus: In an unscheduled visit to the White House, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani met with President Donald Trump to ask for $21 billion in federal grants in support of his plan to build 12,000 affordable housing units over Sunnyside Yard in Western Queens. Mamdani envisions the massive housing project bridging some of the most diverse neighborhoods in Queens, and, according to Mamdani’s spokesperson Joe Calvello, Trump is “very enthusiastic” about it (Gothamist).

Happening on Campus: Today at 2:30 pm,  the Italian Academy will be hosting a discussion titled, “Mapping the Hidden Threads of ‘Made in Italy’: Fashion Museums, Material Culture, and Cultural Heritage as Drivers of Value.” Register here.
