Highlights

On March 26, Columbia’s women’s basketball team (23-8, 11-3 Ivy) defeated Cal Berkeley (21-15, 9-9 ACC), 74-68, in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) Quarterfinal (the next highest college basketball tournament after March Madness). Columbia pulled ahead with early lead, 22-15, after the first quarter, and were able to fight off a late comeback by Cal in the fourth quarter. Perri Page (CC ‘26) led in scoring with 24 points. Riley Weiss (CC ‘27) had 22 and Mia Broom (CC ‘28) had 17. Winning allowed the Lions to play Wisconsin in the WBIT semifinal.

In the WBIT Semifinal, which was held on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, Columbia (now 24-8) overpowered Wisconsin (16-18, 5-13 Big Ten), 67-50, to qualify for the WBIT final. Weiss led in scoring with 21 points. Columbia led 13-9 after the first quarter but pulled ahead to 32-17 by halftime. 

Columbia faces Brigham Young University (26-11, 9-9 Big 12) in the WBIT final, which will be held in Wichita on 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, and broadcast on ESPN 2. If Columbia wins this would be the second time a Columbia team wins a postseason basketball tournament (the men’s team won the Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) in 2016).

On March 25, Columbia’s baseball team (now 5-15, 3-3 Ivy) lost to Manhattan, 9-17, and then went 1-2 in a 3-game series against Dartmouth on March 29 and March 30.
