The Stonewall National Monument will fly the Rainbow Flag once more.
Happening off campus: A federal jury has found Live Nation, parent company of Ticketmaster, to be in violation of antitrust laws. The federal government filed its case almost two years ago following widespread criticism of the company as a monopoly, including at a congressional hearing after millions of people couldn’t get tickets to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. What this means for the future of Live Nation and Ticketmaster, such as whether they will be broken up, will be determined by the judge overseeing the case in a separate proceeding. (NYT)
Happening near campus: Earlier this week, the Stonewall National Monument regained its right to fly the Rainbow Pride Flag. This comes after President Trump’s administration decided to remove the flag in February, garnering outrage. Several legal and activist groups worked to secure a settlement, arguing that the White House’s enforcement of their policy that only the US and other National Park Service flags may be flown was unequally applied, citing “historical context” exceptions granted for flags like the Confederate flag. Which Rainbow Flag will be used is yet to be determined. (GCN)
