Happening near Campus: A pharmacy owner in Jackson Heights was charged with fraud over an alleged buy-back scheme of HIV medication from patients on Medicaid. The New York State Attorney General claims that over $31 million in fraudulent buy-backs was stolen from Medicaid and the AIDS Drug Assistence Program, and charged the man with 24 crimes, including grand larceny, money laundering, and healthcare fraud. The money was then allegedly laundered through shell companies in order to fund capital projects and buy real estate and luxury cars. (Gothamist)
