Who could resist cuffing this fine fellow?

Ah, once again, cuffing season has come to MoHi. Here are some ideas suggested by Bwog’s staff to make the most of your first date with the least amount of money.

Museum Trip to the Whitney

Take a trip to one of the foremost museums of American art, which is easily accessible by subway and constantly changing its galleries around so there’s always something new to see. Pro tip: listen to the audio guides of an exhibit the night before and wow your date with your incredible art history knowledge! Afterward, take a walk on the Highline if it isn’t too chilly.

Cost: 2 subway fares, $18 tickets each (but free if you’re under 18 or made an appointment with your NYPL card)

Ice skating in Bryant Park

What better way to seduce your date than showing them your moves – or falling on your butt. Either way, ice skating is a sure way to have a memorable first date experience and laugh at each other and yourselves. Just make sure to bundle up on cold days, and treat your date to some hot chocolate after.

Cost: Admission is free, but if you don’t own your own skates rentals are $20. And 2 subway fares. Alternatively, Riverbank State Park charges $5 for admission and $6 for skate rentals, so it’s cheaper. Plus you don’t have to deal with the crowds at Bryant Park. It’s 15 minutes away on the 1

Grab some Chinese food in Flushing

Get out of the MoHi bubble and grab some delicious Chinese cuisine in Flushing. You’ll have plenty of time to talk during the subway ride so you can feel free to stuff your mouth during lunch or dinner.

Cost: 2 subway fares and the food will probably be under $30

Bougie lunch & a movie/museum

Lunch: Café Boulud on the Upper East Side. It’s Michelin-rated, but with fair prices according to one gastronomical Bwogger, and is “…classy yet laid back, refined yet fairly simple, elite yet accessible… What more could you want?” Impress your date, and their palate, with their $45 three-course prix-fixe lunch. It’s right by the Met Breuer for some artistic dessert, or you could take a walk down to the Paris Theatre for a movie!

Cost: $45 per person for lunch, more for dinner or for movie tickets, plus subway fares. Met Breuer is free with CUID!

Quick ideas:

Take the subway down to Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Brooklyn Heights promenade and walk around like you’re Adele in that one video.

Watch the sun set over the Brooklyn Bridge at East River Park. Cost is just 2 subway fares. Take the 1 to the F train ( 😏)

Holiday activities: Try the market at Bryant Park or the tree at Rockefeller Center

Take them to Smorgasburg, but be sure to bring spending money!

If you have an idea, feel free to leave it down in the comments! Suggestions to go to Ferris will not be tolerated.
