Happening in the World: A rat in the town of Bensheim, Germany required assistance from volunteer firefighters and an animal rescue expert on Tuesday after lodging itself in a sewer manhole. The rat’s chubbiness prevented it from easily sliding out of the hole, but she managed to escape unharmed after firefighters removed the entire manhole cover. (BBC News)

Happening in NYC: Strong winds on the Hudson River prevented the Norwegian Gem, a cruise ship, from docking in New York City on Tuesday night. The ship floated idly in the water with an unknown number of passengers on board for hours. (New York Post)
