New York City is packed with amazing culture and inspiring art, but sometimes it’s difficult to break the Morningside-bubble and experience it all first-hand. “Where Art Thou” is a weekly guide to interesting and notable lectures, events, and performances for the literary/musically/theatrically-inclined on campus.
On Campus:
- Thursday and Friday at 8 and Saturday at 7, head to the Glicker-Milstein Theatre for New Opera Workshop’s Fall 2019 Repertory Scenes! The singers will be performing an exciting selection of works from Verdi’s Macbeth, Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte, and more. Tickets $4.50.
- The Third Annual CWIC (Columbia Women in Comedy) Showcase is this Friday, Nov. 22 at 8 PM in the Math building! Join some of Columbia’s most talented improv, sketch, and standup comediennes for a night of fun and laughter.
Off Campus:
- Head to the MoMA this Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 1 PM for a free workshop with artist, author, and animator Christoph Niemann: How to Draw at the Museum. This 90-minute program, free with your student admission, is intended to help you “get out of your own head” and start drawing actively.
- This Friday at 8, see Columbia Repertory Ballet’s Fall Performance at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center. Skilled student dancers will be performing selections from Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and more. Tickets start at $15.
- You may as well hang around MMAC for a while, since the CU Ballet Ensemble is performing Le Corsaire there Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM. Get your ballet fix before the semester’s out! Tickets from $10.
